Idaho's Central District Health says the main hantavirus concern in Idaho is Sin Nombre virus, carried by deer mice. The CDC says people are exposed through contact with rodent urine, droppings, and saliva. We seal gaps first, then trap. Store feed in sealed metal bins. When you open a closed barn, air it out and do not sweep or vacuum droppings, as University of Arizona Extension advises.
Most spiders are harmless. Washington's health department lists the black widow and the yellow sac spider as the two medically important spiders in that state, and says black widows are common in eastern Washington. Washington State University says research has not shown the hobo spider to be harmful. We remove webs and egg sacs, clear cover, and seal gaps.
University of Idaho Extension calls carpenter ants serious building pests in northern Idaho, where moisture is plentiful. The National Pesticide Information Center advises keeping firewood several feet from the house and trimming limbs that touch the structure. We check fence posts, barn trim, and woodpiles for damp wood and nests.
University of Idaho Extension's PNW 627 covers voles and pocket gophers and lists habitat changes, trapping, and rodenticides, each with legal limits. We provide targeted property assessment, trapping, and perimeter deterrence.
Many rural properties here use private wells over the prairie aquifer. We follow label limits near wells, keep bait in tamper resistant stations, and tell you where we apply every product.
Acreage homes, horse properties, new subdivisions, and local businesses each need a different plan.
